Internship:
I got to the YMCA today by 9:00 AM. The first thing that I had to do was to update the addresses on the Aquatic Director’s roster for swim meets using the Excel program. I also added e-mail addresses that she had. This would allow easier communication between her and swimmers that are not on her team. Previously she had to communicate telephonically or through the US Mail system. Once that was completed I verified information from the latest stack of Wilkes students. I also learned how to register Wilkes’ students as new members using the TRINEXUM program.  With that completed I finished updating information for the Camping Director pertaining to this year’s summer camps. I left the Y at 1:30 PM

Sunday, February 17, 2013:  I got to the YMCA today at 8:30 AM. There was a swim meet at the Wilkes Barre YMCA today that I worked to give me more exposure to the various programs available. I did a little running but most of my day was spent at the concession stand. Many of the concession stand volunteers also had children competing, so my staying there allowed the parents to watch their children. I helped set-up, make and sell various items, then clean up and tear down afterward. I left the YMCA at 6:00 PM

Friday, Feb. 15, 2013: I got to the YMCA today by 9:00 AM. The first thing that I did was to verify that the information on the TRINEXUM program matched the information on the member application. I then worked with the Camp Director inputting email addresses on his camp participants. Before finishing that task, I had to work on various tasks for the Aquatics Director concerning the upcoming swim meet. I mad copies, worked on signage and did different short term tasks. I left the Y at 2:30 PM.

Internship, Wednesday, February 13, 2013: I got to the YMCA at 9:00 AM today. The first thing I had to do was put stamps on the envelopes from yesterday’s project. Secondly, I found some duplicate member entries in the TRINEXUM program that I merged. I then worked with the Aquatics Director on things she needed done for the swim meet on Sunday. The first thing I did for her was to add the checks for the competitors. I then made out the bank deposit slip and photocopied the checks to keep as a record. I also began researching information for a Member Survey, that the Membership Director wants me to create. I left the YMCA at 1:00 PM.

Internship, Friday February 8, 2013: I got to the YMCA today at 9:00 AM. The first thing that I had to do was to update the membership termination for Wilkes students. The YMCA has an agreement with Wilkes allowing the students free access, but the termination date coincides with the end of the spring semester.

After doing that, I found a few more double and triple entries for memberships. I deleted the duplicates in the TRINEXUM program.

I then worked on the membership roster for the Wilkes Barre newspaper which gives its employees, memberships to the YMCA. The roster is always evolving and no one had ever taken the time to put them in an EXCEL program which would be easier to make changes in. I put them in an EXCEL file.
The last project that I had given to me today was to review member and other surveys and design one for the YMCA members. The survey will be put on the website. There was no specific deadline given for this survey. Time out today was 2:00 PM

Internship, Thursday, February 7, 2013: I got to the YMCA today at 9:00 AM. At first I had to go through the roster of Y members, and terminate then delete duplicate memberships. I went into the TRINEXUM program to do that. I worked off an EXCEL program that listed the members.

Once that was completed, I worked with the Aquatics Director. She has a swim meet on the 17th. I went through the preregistrants, tallied the money, organized the entrants, and filled out the bank deposit slip. I left the Y at 1:00 PM.

Internship, Tuesday February 5, 2013: Today when I got to the YMCA (at 9:00) I started entering new members into the TRINEXUM program.  I then verified the information of new Wilkes students. After doing the data entries for the day, I made copies of budget material for the monthly board meeting that was to take place today. I also copied, collated and stapled information and registration packets for a new insurance group which will be using the YMCA facilities as part of a wellness program beginning in March.  I then went to the front desk to help there until it was time to leave.

Internship, Monday February 4, 2013: I got to the YMCA by 9:00 AM. I started by verifying information for new YMCA members. I then worked on letters thanking of thanks for some members that recently renewed their memberships.I also worked at the front desk. I left the YMCA at 1:00 PM.

Internship, Friday February 1, 2013: Today I got to the YMCA by 9:00 AM. When I first got tho the Y I put the the notices that I had gone through the other day into envelopes. The notices had to do with scholarships with overdue balances. After the envelopes were were stuffed, I put stamps on some of them, eventually running out of stamps.

Once that was done, I went to the front desk to help out there. At the front desk I helped answer phones and give directions to people looking for different areas of the YMCA. I left the YMCA at 1PM.
